New Fishing Signs – Oak lake

Hopefully, you have noticed the new” fishing/ no fishing” signs at Oak Lake! The previous signs had become very faded. The reason for the sign is to prohibit fishing from the swimming, beach area and Clubhouse deck. Of course, the reason for this is that inevitably fishing line, hooks and lures get lost, tangled, left in fishing areas. We do not want that possibility in the kid’s area. Even if no one is currently using any of those areas, fishing is banned in those areas. Rule #3 allows fishing any other place around Oak Lake or any other lakes in HVCA.

Regardless of where or what lake you fish in, please, please clear up all fishing line, hooks, and lures. There have many ducks, geese and other wildlife caught in and permanently injured or die from entanglement. Even if it hard or requires a trip back with help to retrieve the lines, be responsible. Please place the tangled line in the dumpster at Oak Lake or the fishing line recycling white bin at Pine/Laurel lakes.

Thanks to Vonda Derryberry and Chris Myer for donating and installing the signs and Megan O’Neil for making the fishing line disposal canister at Pine/Laurel lakes. Thank everyone in valley who has freed any ducks, geese or other wildlife from fishing line and hooks. Thanks to all of you who pick up their own fishing line and hooks. Thanks also to those of you who pick up and dispose of someone else’s leftover fishing mess.
